I was strolling through the Disney collectibles aisle at the mall the other day when I ran into an old friend of mine. She looked even better than she did in high school and we spent the first couple minutes just catching up. She told me she was a journalist but that she had recently been laid off. I told her about my recent divorce and how I’ve never felt better. We talked about old times and then we just started walking.

We hadn’t seen each other in over five years, but it seemed like only yesterday. We passed through the birthday party supplies without even really noticing them. We hung on each other’s every word like we were going to be tested on them. It was really great to see her and neither one of us wanted the day to end, so we just kept on walking and talking.

Eventually we ended up in some store that was selling nothing but baby crib bedding sets, which seemed really odd to both of us. Then we decided to get lunch because we were both hungry. There was a basketball game on so we just watched it together, which was really fun.
